MRD Arlington Road Part 2

We’re back with part 2 of the #mrdarlingtonproject and sharing the office, powder room, and mudroom. If you missed the first part of the reveal, see HERE! There are more good before and after shots here so let’s jump right in with the office.

The timing of this office was spot on since we got started just about when Covid hit. Who knew how important this room would become! The facing wall is all windows so it could handle a dark color without feeling like a cave. We chose a deep gray for the walls, trim, and built ins, which aside from being a cool, moody color, helped the room feel larger by keeping everything the same tone. We added warmth with brass fixtures, a white oak desk top, and a leather chair and had the rug cut into the opening of the desk so the chair would move easily.

The before shot was taken from other end of the room but it shows how narrow the space is, making it the perfect spot for an office. We removed the existing built ins on the right and how cool is it that there’s a fireplace?!

The powder room is another small space that’s tucked right under the stairs. I don’t have a great before shot but suffice to say everything had to go - including the CARPET! When we saw it, I knew it could be a tiny showstopper. Here are the befores:

And after! We tucked in a console washstand that help keep things feeling open, added marble herringbone tile, and some very pretty wallpaper. One of my favorite details is the curved corners of the backsplash.

Last stop on the tour is the mudroom. This room was originally separated into two spaces with a wall which felt totally unnecessary. Here is the before!

We removed that wall and fit in more cubby space which was a real win. There is a lots to love here like the pretty brass hardware, the navy paint on those beautiful built ins but I think my favorite is the brick flooring we chose.

And that’s all for this project! Thank you to an awesome team, awesome clients, and an awesome photographer for making it all happen.
