#MRDHQ Ikea Finds

We’re officially working in our brand spanking new studio (which still feels completely surreal to say!) and now that it’s pretty much all set up, I thought I’d share the Ikea pieces I chose for the space! The goal was to keep it neutral, light, and bright since it’s not a huge space and I really didn’t want any visual clutter. Plus white is always a great backdrop for viewing fabrics and wallcoverings!

Desks: I chose these because they’re deeper than the standard desk and there is not much I can’t stand more than feeling like I’m pinched for space while working!

Chairs: loved the light wood backs on these with the white bases. I will say that don’t roll well if there isn’t any weight on them (i.e. if no one is sitting in them) but they’re comfortable and work well otherwise.

File cabinets: truth be told, these were a beast to put together. The smallest pieces in the space took the most time - of course! But they are super functional and create a nice way to separate the desks.

Large storage: we needed a way to create some privacy from the parking lot and people walking by and custom cabinetry was out of the question so we used this unit intended for closet storage. The drawers and open shelves were the right combo of hidden storage and display. It’s pricey for Ikea but less than 1/10th the cost of built ins!

Cube storage: everyone needs a Kallax in their lives right? I have many at home in our basement for toy storage and decided the office could benefit from one too. We put it in the closet and one of its purposes is to house samples that we collect for specific projects so we can easily find what we need. Before I was making piles with sticky notes all over my office at home and it was like a land mine!
